CSW 2015 Catwalk Show - Celebrating The Ottoman Empire

For Cambridge Style Week night two we were graced with the presence of the Turkish royal family as we celebrated the Turkish Ottoman Empire. Guests arrived to the mystic style music of the ney flute and it really set the scene ready for the incredible collections we were about to see.

Models of all ages took to the catwalk with gorgeously styled makeup from Inglot Cosmetics and Top to Toe hair stylists created some beautifully bouncy curled ringlets to complete the look.

I-Unique opened the show with their collection of bespoke coats and jackets for women. They create their clothes because they believe that “everyone is unique” and they demonstrate this through designing fabulous structured and colourful clothes that enhance each individuals personality. They showed a contrasting collection with something for everyone. Timeless coat and jacket designs in sophisticated styles to flatten all shapes and sizes, and then incredible colour popping outfits with striking patterns and textures that really caught the audiences attention.

Following I-Unique’s collection, KFD Jewellery exhibited their new range which aims to make you feel classy and stylish whilst wearing their hand made pieces. Models were shimmering as they strutted their stuff down the catwalk with matching necklaces and earrings that dazzled in the light as they walked. The intricately crafted jewellery meant the models were oozing in glamour as they posed for the cameras at the end of the runway.

The rest of the first half saw Leigh Dee Rawlins and her gorgeously colourful architecturally inspired pieces, and then My VIP Wardrobe closing the show with some stunning floor-length evening gowns that captivated the audience as the models floated down the catwalk with such elegance.

The Fashion School of Turkey kicked off the second half as a sea of mesmerising colours took to the catwalk. The students used typical Turkish patterns and tailoring and added their own exotic modern twist to reflect the vibrant culture of the Ottoman Empire. The bold designs and colours resembled those of the colourful spice markets of Ottoman, and the delicate embroidery on the clothes and headpieces paid tribute to the craftsmanship of traditional Turkish artisans.

Yasemin Biricik closed the second half with the world premier of new collection. Inspired by the rich culture of Ottoman, Yasemin has created some exquisitely tailored designs with perfect print detailing that revealed the contours of each and every models body gorgeously. The show ended with a spectacular wedding dress with stunning gold detailing and a sparkling tiara which lifted everyone to their feet in applause.

Altogether the evening was a huge success! Make sure you keep an eye out for information on the final show of the week by following Cambridge Style Week on twitter @cambsstyleweek.
